What I’m Reading…

the unredeemed captive cover

I’m currently reading The Unredeemed Captive by John Demos

It’s available on amazon here.

‘Early on the morning of 29 February 1704, a French and Indian war party opened fire on the small fortified town of Deerfield, Massachusetts and took captive the eminent Puritan minister, John Williams, his wife and their five children. Two and a half years later Reverend Williams was released and returned to Boston but his daughter Eunice remained behind. In The Unredeemed Captive, John Demos tells the story of the decades-long attempt to ‘redeem’ her.’

I’m studying the colonisation of America in Semester One at University next year and this book was recommended to me by the module leader as a good introduction to the topic.

When I’ve finished the book a review will be posted with a summary of the book and any complaints/ compliments I have for it.
